Terms of use

Open Time Gates

These terms describe use of Time Gates during active household testing.

Authorized household use

Use Time Gates only on devices you own or are authorized to manage. A parent or guardian must authorize a child's setup. Explain the household's rules and the information Time Gates records to the child.

Limits and recovery

Time Gates is testing software. Bugs, connectivity, operating-system behavior, and administrator access can affect its controls. Verify that essential apps and emergency communications remain available. On current Windows builds, show the child how to use Time Gates stuck? and the once-daily Safety release before relying on restrictions. A PC still on a build before 46 uses its legacy emergency password until it is updated. Time Gates is not an emergency service or a substitute for supervision.

Tasks and allowance

Households set their own schedules, tasks, and rewards. Allowance entries are records of household arrangements; Time Gates does not transfer money or pay rewards.

Responsible use

Keep pairing approvals and account access private. If a Windows PC still uses a legacy emergency password, keep that private too. Do not use Time Gates for covert monitoring, unauthorized access, or unlawful activity. Send only information you are entitled to share in feedback.

Updates and stopping use

Testing releases may change behavior and require updates. Windows can install available updates automatically. A parent can remove a device through Account and remove a child's active records. A Windows administrator can uninstall the Windows software; iOS removal follows Apple's parental-control authorization rules.
