Frequently asked questions

Can I get notifications without the app?

Yes. On a computer, Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Safari can show Time Gates notifications while the browser is open: open Notification Settings and press Turn on notifications.

On an iPad or iPhone with iPadOS or iOS 18.6 or later, add Time Gates to the Home Screen from Safari, open it from there, sign in again, and turn them on in Notification Settings. Safari itself can’t show them, and older iPads and iPhones can use the website without them.

A child’s browser gets the same notifications as their other devices: tasks that are overdue or keeping something closed until they are done, calendar reminders, bounties and replies. A parent’s gets the parent’s.

The app’s notifications are stronger. On an iPad or iPhone, the app’s can come through a Focus and offer Done on the Lock Screen; the website’s can’t. If the device can run the Time Gates app, that is the better way to get them.
